On pc my first entry is world excluding monhun 2 from ps2 i've played previously and rise is my second on pc,from my perspective world always will be better than rise though this is subjective. Rise has faster combat and monster moves faster as well, world just your normal monhun which i feel very similar to older game speed that i prefer as i used to play monhun 2 back on ps2,regardless of what we stated here it's best for you to look it up as i iterated the same thing in previous pharagraph. Wirebug is more beginner friendly once u get a grip on it due to wirebug actually quite a op mechanic in rise vs clutch claw but what people would hate clutch claw is the tenderize mechanic,as i writing this i'm no bias on either side as i simply stated what i've seen.įor some reason people also like clutch claw over rise wirebug due to wirebug opness although it adds to the combat diversity aspect it's up to preference. Also both game pretty different in difficulty, the pace of the game of both games also quite different from each other. Rise combat and world combat feel like very different thanks to wirebug,Still you have to look up which really pique your interest.Due to difference in combat some people already played world will prefer world over rise or vice versa,Rise indeed flashier than world but world combat ain't dull too cause it has it own interesting way others may find it better than rise and from my experience i never like wirebug and never hate wirebug but it kills the experience of being the hunter to me personally and i'm pretty sure to those who like world over rise feel the same way as i did. You might want to test play yourself or take a look at youtube or somewhere else see if you like the combat,it will be tough for you for the first time if it is your first game. That will be about it, enjoy the ride if you decide to buy it. You shouldn't button mash in this franchise at all. What I said about Monster Hunter in general still applies there, for the most part.

Easier doesn't mean it is less fun, Rise has one of the best combats in the series despite its issues. Rise is currently the recommended first entry of the series due to the QoLs and easier gameplay, it is also faster compared to World, so you might like that one better. Both games scale the monster according to the number of players present in the quest with a few exceptions in World, so you should be okay clearing the content by yourself. In Rise, though, you can play Hub quests right away with your friends and even watch cutscenes with them. The endgame content, optional, and event quests is where the real show begins. World in particular has issues with multiplayer progression due to the "Watch the cutscene before joining your pals", but it's only during the main story. Multiplayer is amazing too, so try it out if you decide to pick any of them.

The real fun is doing some epic shenanigans when you have fully mastered your weapons and monsters. World has some multiplayer only content, but that doesn't mean they can't be beaten solo, it will just take longer, and they are completely optional anyway. Their early game is absolutely awful, though. The bowguns are a bit too broken, but this has been a thing for quite some time now. Rest assured, all the weapons are viable and have decent clear times. Some are slower but have B I G damage, while others are faster with either insane DPS or combos with massive damage when perfected (Looking at my sweet little Sword and Shield). There are 14 weapon types, each with different moves and combos. Making armor/weapons out of monster parts, and they have unique skills/looks? Sounds amazing, right? You can even add more skills into it using charms and decorations, making your own build with interesting combinations. Some animations can even be faster with certain skills in the game. Everything may seem slow to you, but that only means it requires you to think about your actions instead of button mashing everything. The series has been running for almost 20 years now, and it was niche until World came out. You are likely to have some difficulties along the way, like the guy in post #2, trying to adapt to the game. Unfortunately, the series has a steep learning curve. Monster Hunter is its own thing, deliberate combat and unique gameplay mechanics. It won't be something like "Oh yeah, this is similar to souls-likes go get it". This is completely different from the games you have described, OP.
